HEALTH FACTS
Montana Mountain Bison, Inc. feels there is a need for our bison meat to be competitive and comparable to beef so that our consumers can afford to eat healthier for a lot less money. Buffalo (Bison) is the native meat of choice. Research shows bison is a healthier choice being lower in fat, calories, and cholesterol than beef, pork, or skinless chicken (see Nutritional Facts chart). Bison meat does not marble like beef; they fat cover. The result is more red meat, high in iron with less fat per pound. Since bison is a dense meat, you can feel more satisfied by eating less. Doctors are turning many people who are seeking healthier lifestyles and practicing wellness towards the healthy red meat; buffalo. Bison meat is non allergenic. No one, to date, has had an allergic reaction to buffalo meat. Many people who have allergies to other meats find they can eat buffalo. If you are on a low fat diet, you may not be getting another important heart nutrient, carnitine, which is found mainly in red meat. The primary function of carnitine is to escort fatty acids to the furnace (cell milochondria), where the fat is burned to produce energy. In doing so, it reduces fat levels in the blood dramatically. Also, Johns Hopkins Medical Journal reported that carnitine lowers bad cholesterol and increases the good cholesterol. Dr. Carl Pepine of the Division of Cardiology at the University Of Florida Medical School reported that tests show carnitine increases blood flow by 60% and reduced vascular resistance by 25%. Adding bison to your diet can also help in meeting recommended allowances of iron; buffalo contributes about 69% more iron to your diet per serving than does beef! Try Montana Mountain Bison, Inc.'s buffalo meat today for any of these health reasons or just for the great taste!

PROCESSING
We at Montana Mountain Bison, Inc. introduce our bison to all natural feedings with no growth hormones or stimulants. Both Montana Mountain Bison, Inc. and the National Bison Association oppose the use of these substances in the production of bison for meat. We also raise some buffalo on a complete grass diet for those customers who prefer grass fed finished buffalo. We are very careful and quite particular when purchasing (if the need arises) bison; we only purchase buffalo from people who have our values in raising buffalo. We put our bison on premium feed for no less than 180 days to finish them out. After our bison reach the appropriate weight, we then slaughter the buffalo at a USDA inspected plant in Butte, Montana. Montana Mountain Bison, Inc. is a member of the Made in Montana/ Grown in Montana program. At the USDA inspected plant we have our various cuts processed and packaged in a cryvac vacuumed sealed package which will last as long as 3 weeks refrigerated and unopened. Most items come in a 10#, 20#, or 50# case. Some items can be bought in individual cuts or packages. Please see the item descriptions. Montana Mountain Bison, Inc. specialty items, again a Made in Montana product, are made in Superior, Montana using Montana Mountain Bison, Inc. buffalo meat.
